When the colorurs begins to run out

Dark Brazil

Brazil without colors

Dark Brazil is a series of 12 paintings that were originally exhibited as prints pasted on the walls of Brasília. The originals were part of the “Biennal SESC 2018” and the “Biennial Diversa” in 2019. They were created between 2015 and 16, in the unstable political scenario that would later give way to a coup and the first extreme right-wing government since the 1968 dictatorship in Brazil. The paintings show the contrast between the joyful images of the publicity I did for the government at my day job and the real people on the streets. From these contacts, these paintings are born with blurred and monochrome characters that try to counteract that colourful fantasy that no longer exists except in the advertising imagination.
